Nearly a billion people in the world are undernourished. Over 25% of food goes to waste.
We founded Served in 2019 to help with both of these problems. Served is a not-for-profit organization that pledges to:
- serve free meals in local soup kitchens to those in need,
- utilize predominantly “wasted” food,
- create meals made from delicious, healthy ingredients,
- provide a safe space free of judgment for the homeless, elderly, needy, lonely, deinstitutionalized, and disadvantaged, and
- build community and change the world.
We aim to live, love, give, and serve.
Our plans
In 2020, We purchased and outfitted our beautiful Food Truck. While we still haven’t come up with a name for the truck, we’ve be utilizing it for food donations pick-ups and drop-offs, as well as some fundraising events.
We are looking forward to serving the community even more in the upcoming years with our beauty of a truck!
While we have partnered up with some amazing businesses to pick-up food donations, we are always looking for local and national partners to join our mission of solving hunger and food waste simultaneously. We also welcome suggested communities and partners to receive whole food drop offs or meals.
Our Team
Craig and Brittany Hastings are the founders of Served Kitchen. They are both graduates of the Culinary Institute of America. Having worked in various fine dining venues all around the globe, they settled down in Massachusetts. One thing became evident to the Hastings, food insecure communities are growing more and more prevalent. It’s one thing to get food donations at a pantry, but it’s another to be able to work with local farms to get fresh produce and turn it into healthy and clean meals for these communities. Craig and Brittany spend most of their week menu planning, prepping, packaging, delivering and making new community connections like some of the homeless shelters, recovery centers and hospice care facilities that receive regular donations from Served Kitchen.
Chef Shelton Perkins, co-owner of Gather restaurant in Pembroke, assists Served Kitchen on a weekly basis to prepare food for our meal delivery services, donated meals, as well as some of our catering events. He has a passion for cooking good food, loves to watch people enjoy a fresh meal and it brings him great joy knowing that the meals he prepares with Served are not only filling bellies but also hearts with hope.
Jaime Perkins is a corporate professional and also the co-owner of Gather restaurant in Pembroke. When she’s not recruiting IT professionals in her corporate job or handling the events and operations of their restaurant, she is working with Served Kitchen on a weekly basis to manage upcoming events, projects, and meal deliveries. She ultimately fell in love with the hospitality industry since her husband is a chef, but working with Served Kitchen is so much more than just hospitality to her. For her, she loves thinking outside the box to come up with a new offering which in turn will fund the ability to feed others in need.
